BAG LIMITS ON COD

The Norwegian government has proposed to set a size limit on coastal cod. This contains to all private fishing. The University of Troms has just realized a report regarding both the economic and environmental impact of tourist fishing here in Norway
The report conclusion has asked that government set a big limit and sizes limit for all fishermen. It longer matters if you are a young man or child you will come under the same regulations as professional fishermen. The new size limit will be set at 47cm north of the 64th parallel and 30 cm south of that mark. This parallel is situated at Steinskjer in North Tronderlag. Haddocks size limit remains the same at 44cm north of the 64th parallel and 27cm south of the line. Halibut size limits also remains 60cm for the entire country.
Both tourist boards and fishing clubs have been involved in a long-term study of the habits of fishermen for abroad. The University of Troms released their findings last May and it is estimated that foreign fishermen caught over 15.000 ton of fish. This calculates at around 200 million Kroner or20 million pund.
