Big sea-trout in Aust-Agder

A large number of sea-trout over 3kg have been caught of late between Risør and Lillesand. The largest of these has tipped the scales at 7kg. It is not so uncommon that fish between 500 gr. and 1 kg are caught in the spring month but this year record fish are turning up in greater numbers.

It has been claimed that the increase of small herring and sardines has lead to sudden grow in the local fish. The good news is that the best months are still to come. March throughout May have always been the best months for the active sea-trout fishermen. Resent research has shown that hobby fishing is Norway’s most popular pass time. Over 53% of Norwegians fish more the 14 days a year.

Lucy for we fishermen Aust-Agder has a long list of great fish opportunities for example Tvedestrandsfjorden, Haslatangen and Homborsund stand out as great sea-trout haunts. Equipment need not cost a fortune either a simple rod will do the trick. The locals have said that the best lures to try are silver and blue in the colder water and copper and red when the water warms up. Just remember that brown coloured fish and fish under 35cm long must be set back!!!
