Here in Norway a storm has started due to a resent government declaration!!

A resent study has concluded that 5% of salmon and trout that are realises die as a result of their encounter with fishermen. As a result catch and realise is to be banned in Norway. Despite the need for conservation in our rivers the animal protection society has long claimed that it is a barbaric act. This has left many sports fishing groups pondering the future of salmon in this country.

Catch and release is a time-honoured tradition among many of the countries involved in Sports fishing. It has not only proven to be successful but one of the major factors for the success of many world famous fisheries. To see the great strong hold of salmon fishing follow an out dated idea is a blow for the reputation of all involved in the sports fishing in Norway.

As a measure of its commitment the government body that wish to place such a ban has not found an alliterative solution; for example a national bag limit or local restrictions. It is hoped this does not reflect the attitude taken by local fishermen as we are a group that wishes to continue both successful seasons and correct conservation practises.

We would love to hear your comments on this case so as we can lobby against such idiot decisions. Simply contact us here at post@fishbooking.com
