A surprise gift from a local hero.

A local fisherman that was known and loved by all at Mistra and Renaelva (rivers) passed away four years ago. This in its self is a sad story but it has led to an interesting turn of events. You see the man in question has donated 281,000 kroner to the river managers. So as his slice of paradise will live on and with help from this money it may grow.

Our story started back in the early eighties when Normann Lorents Gullerud moved to Strømssalen. It was here that he had found the perfect location to base his adventures along the two great rivers in his new district. This is every fisherman dream! Norman had no family so his life was dedicated to these rivers. Such was his love for these trout rich waters that he chose to leave his remaining money to his life long love, fish!

The conditions of this money were very clear. It was to be spent on preserving and maintaining the stocks of trout in “his” rivers. This is a task already undertaken by Geir byggstøyl who is the manager of the hatchery that releases a large number of trout smolt each year. This task has been hampered by a large debt. Fortunately a percentage of this money has been used to pay down the debt. Now it is claimed that the hatchery can begin to increase it’s effort to continue the success of it’s program.
