Will test parasite from trout.

Shortly will the Norwegians Veterinarian Institute begin a radical new method to test the manner in which the dreaded salmon parasite Gyrodactylus Salaris spreads.

After Easter infected trout from a suspect fish farm will be introduced to a test group of salmon smolt from Enningdalsvassdraget (catchment). The new mix of fish will live together for 6-8 weeks. This will prove if the parasite attack the salmon via brown trout. The reason for this is the local fishermen are angered over the threat of their rivers been destroyed by infected fish farms. Lets hope that this reasearch will prove once and for all that infected farms in fresh water systems with salmon river involved are safe or not
