Tourist cheating the law

A new trend has started to creep in among tourist visiting Norway, stealing fish from fish farms. By standing on shore or casting from boats certain people have started catching salmon direct from fish farms along our coast. Not only is this against the law but it is an unchallenging form of fishing.

A new trend has started to creep in among tourist visiting Norway, stealing fish from fish farms. By standing on shore or casting from boats certain people have started catching salmon direct from fish farms along our coast. Not only is this against the law but it is an unchallenging form of fishing.
For the record it is illegal to fish closer than 100 meters from any farm here in Norway and in future those caught will be prosecuted. Local police officer Håkon Tørvik from Kvinnherad has had several reports that this activity is on the increase. Unfortunately it seems to be German tourists that are involved in this harmful form of fishing.
