The Swedish government has finally taken control.

The Swedish government has said no to salt treatment of the much-hated Bullen fish farm. This farm sits on the Swedish border and much has been written about this particular farm here in the press. This farm is located in an important salmon catchment and has for some time threatened Norwegian rivers.

Salt treatment is not only costly but the chances of repeat infections of gyrodactilus salaris are to great to risk the wild salmon rivers in the surrounding districts. These catchments are Enningsdalsvassdraget and Haldenvassdraget, which are located on the Swedish Norwegian boarder.

The final outcome is that all fish in the suspect farm will be slaughtered. This has left smiles on the faces of the local fishing clubs and Bellona (international environment campaigners). An interesting note the Swedish government has admitted that they have reacted slowly to such a serious threat.
