Dale river opens in style.

Dale river (50 kilometers from Bergen) Sunday night was the opening day for the season and Øystein Sellevold was one of the many keen fishermen ready to kick of the season. Sellevold managed to catch two salmon. The largest of these was just over four kilos.

He went on to say that nothing could compete to a day like that. His luck started when he name was drawn out in the pre season lottery. This enabled him to fish one of Dale’s better pools (Geitabakken). It was not until the early hour of the morning that he had his first bite.

Unfortunally it was a farmed fish, as it so often happens his first spat his hook. Finally revenge was his and the first “real” fish stuck with eagerness and with in a short time bingo a wild salmon weighing 4.4 kilo. He latter went on to land another weighing just under 2-kilo.

With the world cup final in full swing he could not think of anything better than sitting on his favorite river. He explained that two salmon were far better than any football match. A view shared by this journalist.

Over many seasons he has caught plenty of fish and has found that there is only one rig that counts. A fat juicy worm with a small thread of red wool tied above the worm. He is uncertain why it works so well but his statistics talk for them selves. Sellevold plans to fish regularly over the summer his only interruption will be a short ten-day holiday in Denmark.

Take a look at our river descriptions and read about this river it’s a ripper and well worth a fish.
