As recently as Wednesday a local paper from Molde released information regarding free fishing in the streams and lakes but this is not true. Effective from the start of July the council and landowners have come to an agreement on both pricing and cultivation policies. Norway’s hunting and fishing organization local leader informed the local paper.

Agreement with landowners

The new system is based on a volunteer agreement with 15 landowners and the plan is to improve the fishing in this district and encourage more people to enjoy a more active life style. Cards can be bought from both local sports stores and tourist offices. It will cost from 30 kroner per day, 75 kroner per week and 150 kroner for the entire season. Family cards are also available Prices start at 50 kroner and for a week it is as low as 100 kroner. The good news is children don’t need to pay to fish in lakes here in Norway.

Drinking water supply.

Here is a list of some of the lakes that are under this new plan: Fjellbrudammen, Øverlandsvatnet, Bergsvatnet, Bårdsdalsvatnet, Moldevatnet, Audunstjønnan, Mekvatnet og Holstjønna. This list also includes the streams and small rivers that flow from the lakes. This means that it is permitted to fish lakes that are waters sources for the town. People should be aware to follow the rules regarding activities around drinking water sources. If you have any question regarding these rules the local sport stores have a complete list of all regulations.
