Angler dies on river!!!!!!!

An angler in his 60’s fell Friday morning at Sævareidelven in Fusa (county). He was quickly pulled on shore but it was already too late.

The local policed were called to the river around 7.30 am. Their report later went on to explained that while he was fishing he slipped and fell. The other fishermen in the area witnessed this. One of the men interviewed said that the waterfall is spewing out water and it is stupid to have fished so close to the waterfall.

This is a lesson that we should all learn from. I have fished this river over the last few years and it is a disaster waiting to happen. The greedy landowners have unlimited card sales. This means that on particular there can be 30 men fighting for one of the few places that is safe to stand. The others take lives in their own hands by trying to find a perch on slippery sharp rocks.

So if you are fishing a high river the only lesson that can be learnt is take care of your footing and think about safety. We all love our fishing but the idea of coming home in a box is not one that I would consider. This is the first death on river this year but if you take into account how many have died in small boats it is shocking that both tourist and locals don’t use their heads when the are out and about. Lets pray this is the last death this season.
