Norways sea fishing champ.

Henrik Dahlstrøm (18) from Rolvsøy has been crowned the nations best junior sea fisherman. His results speak for them selves, over 50 kilos of fish in one day was enough to clinch the title.

His victory was so complete that is beat his nearest competitor by over twenty kilograms. This year contest was held at Sortland in Vesterålen. Each of the anglers fished for five hours a day over the course of two days. Henrik explained that a little luck with his boat placement helped with his victory.

Henrik was born and raised in Visterfo and has fishing in his blood. He started fishing pike and perch in the east of Norway. Then at an early age he started sea fishing and to coin a phrase he is hooked. He is a regular competitor with in his club (Sarpsborg Havfiskeklubb) but as he explained that the cost of traveling north means that he is limited to a few trips a year. He is already planning next year’s national cod fishing championships.

Despite the fact he is the junior champ he has his work cut out for him if he is to compete in the big league. This year’s senior winner landed over 180 kilo over the two days of the contest.

He was asked if this was his best days fishing but one particular day stood out in his memory. He once caught a roke in Tenerife that weighed over 45 kilo.
