400 kilo shark caught in southern Norway

Four buddies were out on the sea for a days fishing but what awaited them was a shock to say the least. Tore Jan Skeie was the most shocked of all. What he thought to be a halibut turn out be a 300 to 400 kilo shark.

His first reaction was that it was a good bite but when the hook was set he know full well that this would tack some time. That it did over two and half-hours of hard work before they could see what it was they had hooked. Although Greenland shark are not famed for they’re fighting skills they have been known to give the odd fishermen a struggle they wouldn’t forget in a hurry.

The good news this seldom-sighted creature was sent back to the deep. This was for more than one reason. Not only are they poisonous (symptoms not unlike that of alcohol abuse) and they are so seldom that kill one would never be accepted. His exact words were “sick just sick catching a fish so large on sports equipment”. The 32-year-old also stated that he would never forget his day on the sea.

Here is an interesting note Terje Nordtvedt caught the largest example of this shark weighing in at 775 kg.
