Sea-trout that sit under the fish ladder i Forsmoforsen are been slaughtered by so-called anglers. Large numbers of fish are been caught by fishermen foul hooking their prey with over sized hooks.
Knut Båtstand drove by Forsmofosen (falls) after receiving a tip. The sight that greeted him was shocking. He claimed it was a slaughterhouse, blood colored water and fish guts lying around everywhere. He believed that at least ten anglers must have used oversized hooks to catch the defenseless fish waiting below the closed fish ladder. Drevja river managers have been alerted by Knut and are working hard to set up a surveillance system so as to stop this in the future. The landowners are shocked by this behavior and plan to prosecute anyone undergoing such activities. Not only does this reduce the number of fish that can run the steps but also it injures remaining fish. This is a blow to the managers they are currently waiting for permission to open the gates or move the fish over the steps. Also fisheries manager Lars Sæter has told the local press that moving the fish manually is far to risky. The chance of speding gyro infected fish up steam is far too great. Let this be a warning to every one that visits Norway to fish that foul hooking fish is not only illegal but you stand the risk of up to 1 year in jail. Skot.
