Live bait is destroying our fresh water catchments.

The concern behind the use of live bait has surfaced again here in Norway. For some years it has been forbidden to use live bait in fresh water. Yet many tourists that enter Norway do not follow this ruling.

Jens Petter Nilssen is a researcher with Høgskolen in Hedmark and he has claimed that this is an environmental disaster waiting to happen. A classic example is the introduction of minnows to the high mountain plateau we call Hadangevidda. This has created gigantic problems for local sports clubs and lake managers.

Currently the county of Oppland our now fighting an invasion of an unwanted pest. This should serve as a warning to all tourists that fish here in Norway.
