A resent case that has unfolded here in Norway has lead to some of the worst press the farming industry has had in many years. It has cost top jobs and precise repetitions!
Skot
Northern Troms has witnessed a case that is so void of responsibility by the manager of Nordreisa salmon farms (Kåre Pedersen) that the press in this country have had a field day. Mid last week a massive number of dead salmon were found floating in a fjord called Rotsund. This in its self is a reason for alarm but none of the local operator reported any stack losses.
The story continued, when tested by the Fisheries Department it was found that the fish were from a farm that had a history of the fatal salmon disease I.L.A. This ILA has infected wild stocks and caused millions in damage to both farmers and river owners.
This case is under investigation and the leader of Nordreisa Laks has stood a side until the police integrations are complete. We will keep you posted on the latest developments of this case.
