Pike fishing has become more and more popular here in Norway. In accordance to this those of you that wish to fish pike should know if you throw the odd one back there is with out doubt some guide lines need to be followed. Here is my “Do's and don’ts” of pike fishing.

1. Always use a mat to lay your down. If they are laid on the ground it could damage their slime protection 2.Try not to carry your fish any great distance it is always best to de-hook your fish next to the water
3.Never carry your fish with bare hands. This is a slimy creature and all to often fish are dropped and die.
4.If you wish to photograph your fish leave it in your landing net as long as possible. This will insure a better quality photo.
5.NEVER PUT YOUR FINGERS IN THE MOUTH OF A PIKE. It is shocking how often I have seen this. The point is you will bleed more than thought possible.
6.Return your fish to the water without wasting time. After all they belon under the surface.
7.When you place your fish back in the lake simply support your fish by the tail until you feel it pulling away. Don’t just toss your fish direct in the lake
