Doctor Livingstones is a benchmark restaurant/pub famed for its quality and atmosphere. It is the meeting place for many of the fishermen here in Bergen. Not only is it built as an adventure meeting place but also the décor is built of hand-caved wood from Asia. We have been blessed to receive the services of one of their young and exciting chiefs. Ståle has long been a famed for cooking interesting but simple fish recipes and we are proud to have his help in expanding our menu.

Along with his recipies he will guide through the simple ways to fillet the many different types of fish here in Norway. If you have any questions, for example what spices are best with what herb or how long can I keep fish in the freezer. All you need to do is send an e-mail to rawprawns@hotmail.com and he will answer all your questions.

We have given you a taste of what he can do by including two of his fantastic meals that appear on the Doctor Livingstones menu. I was the fortunate person that had to taste test them and I was impressed! Not only can you find great food but also one of our team works weekends behind the bar.

You have all seen Paul our English lake specialist, when he is not out fishing he can be found behind the bar serving beer. It is a great advantage to all fishermen to have a man of Paul’s talent behind the bar. You have the opportunity to drop in and ask Paul where the fish are biting. If you are so lucky to become one of Paul’s regular faces you stand the chance of being included in Paul’s wall of fame. Hanging over the bar are photos of some of the regulars with their biggest fish. Yes before you ask there is an unpublished photo of me on the wall. So what are you waiting for?

Over the quiet winter months we plan on having a few fisherman nights where we will assemble many of the personalities of Norway’s fishing world for slide shows and a beer or two. So I guess if you are in town we will see you there?
