Cod  (Torsk)

Cod are one of the most important fish in the North Sea. They are fished by
thousands of fishermen through out Northern Europe. A a result it has been
over fished for many years and now is one of the most studied fish in the
North Atlantic
There are two main types of cod found in Norway one is the coastal cod and
the other is the wandering North Sea cod. The first is a bottom fish that
spends its life in the same territory and the other is a pelagic fish the
swims the ocean chasing its prey.
Cod grow fast and for example a two-year-old cod can measure up to 40cm.
Cod can be over 25 years old and weigh over 25kg. The diet consist of
lobster, small fish, herring,crabs among other things.
